The 2020 AGIC Maps & Apps Contest is now open to registered conference attendees! Even though we can't be together physically, you can still share all the great work you are doing with people that will appreciate your vision and hours of hard work so get your entry submitted today! See results from the 2019 Challenge in the conference proceedings.
Submission Deadline and Voting
Submissions are being accepted through October 16, 2020. If you are entering an app, be sure to include the public URL for your application. During the virtual conference, registered attendees will be able to vote for their favorite entry in each category on the website. Winners will be announced on Thursday during the award presentations group activity and each winner will receive a certificate. Be sure to check back to see if your favorite earned this year's bragging rights.
For the Poster portion of the contest, awards will be presented in the following three areas:
- Best Overall Cartography
- Best Analytical Presentation
- Best Student Poster
Web/MobileApp/Story Map Categories
For the App portion of the contest, awards will be presented in the following two areas:
- Best Story Map
- Best Overall Application

Joining the Challenge is easy!
- You must be registered for the 2020 Symposium to enter.
- Login to your account.
If you are registered for the conference, you should have an account already. Use the "forgot password" on the login page to reset your account.
- Once you are logged in, go to My Menu at the top right of the page, hover over "Submit a Map or App," then select the contest you want to enter. There is no limit to the number of contests you can enter, although the student contest is limited to projects completed by students in a GIS or related degree program.
- Read through the contest details, complete the form, and upload an image for your submission. You will also have the option to add up to 5 additional screenshots/images of your submission. This is a great opportunity to showcase your work. For large posters, submit one overall image of the full poster, then up to 5 additional images of zoomed-in portions of your poster.
