The 2019 AGIC Maps & Apps Contest is now open! Share the cool stuff you are doing with people that will appreciate all the hours of blood, sweat, and tears you put into it. This is an excellent opportunity to network with GIS professionals and students alike, so get your entry submitted today! See results from the 2018 Challenge in the conference proceedings.
Your Work on Display
New this year: All submitters will be eligible to participate in the Maps & Apps lighting round Wednesday evening.
Maps and Apps submittals will be also be featured at the Wednesday night social starting at 5:30pm. Hard copy maps will be displayed on the poster panels and apps will be projected onto the big screen in the ballroom after the lightning round. Attendees can also check out the contest on a laptop at the Registration Desk during the conference.
For the Poster portion of the contest, awards will be presented in the following three areas:
- Best Overall Cartography
- Best Analytical Presentation
- Best Student Poster
- Every student who submits a map/poster to the Student Competition – 2019 Maps & Apps Challenge will receive an extra evaluation point to their Tony Gonzales Scholarship criteria point total.
Web/MobileApp/Story Map Categories
For the App portion of the contest, awards will be presented in the following two areas:
- Best Story Map
- Best Overall Application

How to Submit Your Entry
Joining the Challenge is easy!
- Login to your account
- Once you are logged in, go to My Menu at the top right of the page, hover over "Submit a Map or App," then select the contest you want to enter. There is no limit to the number of contests you can enter, although the student contest is limited to projects completed by students in a GIS or related degree program.
- Read through the contest details, complete the form, and upload an image for your submission. You will also have the option to add up to 5 additional screenshots/images of your submission. This is a great opportunity to showcase your work. For large posters, submit one overall image of the full poster, then up to 5 additional images of zoomed-in portions of your poster.
